On the Trail of Igor Rizzi (18+) Saturday January 6 2007, 7:30pm

Noël Mitrani’s undestated thriller On the Trail of Igor Rizzi (Sur La Trace d’Igor Rizzi), fresh off winning Best Canadian First Feature at the 2006 Toronto International Film Festival

An accomplished, minimalist thriller infused with dry wit and offbeat charm. “A deadpan tragicomedy that fits snugly in the tradition of Aki Kaurismäki and Jim Jarmusch. The slow-motion gags and moments of casual absurdity are anchored by a quiet sense of grace and genuine depth of feeling.”

Midnight Movies (18+) Friday January 5 2007, 7:30pm

With: David Lynch, John Waters, George A. Romero (18+) Travel back to the midnight madness of 70’s cult cinema! This affectionate doco celebrates six ground breaking films: The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Eraserhead, The Harder They Come, Night of the Living Dead, Pink Flamingos and El Topo.

Tales of the Rat Fink (18+) Friday January 12 2007, 7:30pm

From the award-winning director of COMIC BOOK CONFIDENTIAL and GRASS comes TALES OF THE RAT FINK, Ron Mann’s wildly inventive bio about Renaissance man Ed “Big Daddy” Roth, who engineered a shift in mid-twentieth century culture with his customized cars, “monster” T-shirts and America’s alternative rodent - “Rat Fink”. Mann’s largely animated documentary features the voice talents of John Goodman, Ann-Margret, Jay Leno, Brian Wilson, Tom Wolfe, Matt Groening, Robert Williams, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Paul LeMat, Billy F Gibbons, and The Smothers Brothers.
